Alpujarra almeriense es absolutamente un contraste al lado Alpujarra granadina; el paisaje aqui en Almeria es asombroso diferente, más árido con muchas áreas de la tierra fértil verde debido a la abundancia de agua. La fuente de la Río Andarax se puede encontrar en Laujar de Andarax. Aún hoy en la Alpujarra almeriense se pueden ver pueblos del más puro sabor árabe, con calles estrechas y empinadas, colgados de las laderas montañosas.
Alpujarra almeriense is quite a contrast compaired with Alpujarra granadina; the landscape here in Almeria is amazingly different, more arid with many areas of green fertile land due to abundance of water. The source of the river Rio Andarax is at Laujar de Andarax. Also these Alpujarra towns are of purest Arab flavour with their narrow streets sleepily hanging against mountainous slopes.

con el agua, bien por la utilidad medicinal en los baños, bien para su
aprovechamiento en la agricultura. Restos de los Baños
Arabes se 
conservan actual en Hotel Balneario de San Nicolás. En
el Cerro de la Cruz está
la fortaleza nazarí de los Castillejos, con línea visual
directa con las fortalezas de Marchena y el Castillo de Mondújar.
Alhama de Almeria is the town of entrance to Alpujarra almeriense. This proud village in the province of almeria is related to water, either for its medicinal uses in thermal baths or for its agriculture. Arab type baths are conserved in the present Hotel Balneario of San Nicholas. Visiting the hill de la Cruz, there are remains of Nazarí fortress Castillejos to be seen which is in direct line of sight with the fortress of Marchena and the Castle of Mondújar.
Laujar de Andarax este a frente a la Sierra de Gádor y en las estribaciones de Sierra Nevada, aparece en la ruta de la naranja y la uva. Esta fue la villa elegida por Boabdil, el último rey nazarí de kalifat de Granada, para establecer su residencia antes de partir para el exilio a África. Dentro del núcleo de población se encuentra un enorme lienzo de muralla de mampostería y cinco torres.
Laujar de Andarax is situated to the north of the mountain range of Gádor and in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada, on the route of the oranges and grapes. Boabdil, the last Nazarí king of the kalifat of Granada, established his residence here before deciding for exile to Africa. Within the center of the town there is much left of a masonary defending wall with five towers.
La Rambla de Paterna y el río de Bayárcal
llegando a la provincia de Granada. Se llamó Uxixar de Albacete
que viene a significar llanura, un el enclave en el que se situa
hace honor a su nombre. Debido a su inaccesibilidad alrededor Ugíjar quedó como un reducto
musulmán en las Alpujarras. Aún se pueden ver restos del que
fue uno de los más importante castillos, el Castillo de los Escariantes,
de las Alpujarras. Contaba este castillo con un aljibe de grandes dimensiones
y ha aparecido en él 
cerámica que demuestra la ocupación
del castillo desde los primeros tiempos de la presencia árabe en
la península Ibérico. Podemos visitar también la Ermita
de San Antón, la Iglesia de Nuestra Señora del Martirio, el
Pozo de la Virgen o la Fuente del Arca. En dirección Cherin y Laroles,
capital del municipio de Nevada, integrada dentro del Puerto de la Ragua,
un estación de esquí.
The Rambla of Paterna and the river of Bayárcal is the borderline to the province of Granada. It was called Uxixar de Albacete, meaning Llanura or enclosure of honour. Due to its inaccessibility this area around Ugíjar retained a Muslim redoubt in the Alpujarras. Remains can still be seen of one of the most important castles of the Alpujarras, the castle of Escariantes. To the east of this castle a very large rain tank of ceramic demonstrates the function of the castle from the first times of the Arab presence in the Iberico Peninsula. The Hermitage of San Antón, the Church of our lady of Martyrdom, the Well of our Virgin or the fountain of the Ark of the covenant, are places to visit. Via Cherin and Laroles, capital of the municipality of Nevada, is the pass of Puerto de la Ragua where one finds a ski resort.
